Useful, targeted support
How we help pupils from Sutton Grammar School
The goal is not simply more work. It is the right work, taught clearly and practised until the pupil can use it independently.
01
Close the KS2 gaps
We identify weaknesses in arithmetic, problem solving, comprehension, vocabulary and writing before they become costly under timed conditions.
02
Practise accurately under time
Pupils learn when to move on, how to check work and how to keep accuracy when a paper becomes more demanding.
03
Prepare for both stages
We use multiple-choice practice for the SET and written Maths and English work for the second stage, without teaching shortcuts in place of understanding.
Sutton Grammar School is a selective boys’ school on Manor Lane. For 2027 Year 7 entry, the school states that candidates first sit the Sutton Selective Eligibility Test (SET), followed by a second-stage test for those invited to continue.
The SET uses multiple-choice Maths and English papers based broadly on the Key Stage 2 curriculum; Sutton Grammar School’s own guidance says it does not test verbal or non-verbal reasoning. The shared second stage for Sutton Grammar, Wallington County Grammar and Wilson’s includes a Maths paper and an English paper. We therefore build the underlying Maths and English skills, then introduce timed practice and exam technique as a pupil becomes ready.

Common questions
Sutton Grammar School tuition FAQs
Does StudyBox guarantee a Sutton Grammar School place?
No. Admission depends on the school’s tests, published criteria and level of competition. Tuition can strengthen skills, accuracy, confidence and exam technique, but no ethical provider can guarantee a place.
What does the Sutton SET test?
Sutton Grammar School says the first-stage SET contains multiple-choice Maths and English papers based broadly on Key Stage 2. It does not include verbal or non-verbal reasoning.
When should preparation begin?
This depends on the child. Starting earlier can give time to close genuine gaps without rushing; a later start can still help if the pupil has secure foundations. The free trial helps us recommend a sensible next step.
How much is 11 Plus tuition?
StudyBox 11 Plus sessions are £60 for two hours. Groups are capped at three pupils per tutor.
